Jamaica Blue Fine Coffees at Mid Valley Mall

I was toying around with a few possible venues for breakfast after a strenuous swimming session last weekend and decided upon Jamaica Blue Fine Coffees at Mid Valley Mall as I would be in the area to run some errands and stock up on my supplies.

Jamaica Blue Fine Coffees is a café I had previously visited and enjoyed the food and coffee there. This café has it's headquarters in Australia and has it's footprint in more than 130 outlets in New Zealand, Singapore, United Arab Emirates, China, UK as well.

Reputed to be 'the home of fine coffee', Jamaica Blue opened it's first outlet on Malaysian soil somewhere in August 2014 at Mid Valley Mall.

Their tagline for food is found printed on the plates they serve : "Jamaica Blue's Good Food - Lovingly Prepared Foods, Freshly Made Inhouse Daily". And it sure lives up to this tagline!

This is a simple, no-frills café but the coffee and the food - if you especially love eggs in any form, is good and freshly prepared on the spot. It's also a good place for shoppers seeking to take a break, relax and refuel and is strategically located on the 1st floor of Mid Valley Mall, South Court, near to the entrance of Metrojaya).

There's a good variety of breakfast, brunch and all-day choices as well as a good selection of sweets. The breakfast menu ranges from Continental Toast with butter & jam (RM5.90) to Jamaica Blue Big Breakfast (RM20.90) which also comes with any beverage of your choice. Out of 18 items on the breakfast menu, 11 of them have eggs served with them and the Eggs Benedict range (priced between RM14.90 to RM16.90) is especially good.

On the Meals and Sweets menu, there are a variety of Salads (priced between RM12.90 - 15.90), Sandwiches (priced between RM14.90 - RM16.90), Main Meals like Zucchini & Fetta Fritters, Tarts, Beef & Vegetable Lasagne, Beef & Caramelised Onion Pastry Rolls, Wasabi Crumbled Chicken Burger, Filo Snails, Tuna & Lemon Cakes (priced between RM12.90 - RM22.90) and Sweets like Cakes, Scones, Friands, Cookies and Muffins (priced between RM4.00 to RM11.90) to choose from.

As for the drinks menu, well, you really need to visit to see for yourself. There's Chilled Lattes (RM10.90), Frappes (RM11.90 - RM12.90), Smoothies (RM12.90), Iced Teas (RM10.90), Milkshakes (RM12.90), Fruit Juices (RM9.90) amongst others. The hot Signature Drinks range from between RM6.00 for a Signature Expresso to RM10.90 for a Mocha or Affogato.

The only downside is the grumpy lady cashier who also takes your order at the counter. She is everything a "service with a smile" is not. and is curt, abrupt and rude in speech.

Naturally, you can forget about asking her to recommend anything to customers. I've been here only twice but she managed to turn me off on both occasions. Luckily, the very well-mannered waiters, prompt service and fresh, delicious food and drinks more than made up for it.
