The Joy of Discovering A “New” Running / Cycling Path

Finding new places to run is always one of my pleasures in order to keep running interesting and fresh. In short, to avoid boredom!

During the Thaipusam holiday a few days ago, my fiance and I visited Putrajaya City to do a run followed by a ride.
We started our run first and the chosen route was the usual standard and very flat 10.5km round the island of Putrajaya government and administrative offices.

Upon finishing our run, we intended to cycle around the same route again but I was feeling adventurous.

Watching other joggers and cyclists on the opposite west bank (the land side) across from Putrajaya Island, I was curious how to get onto that bike / pedestrian path.

Trusting my natural navigation instincts and uncanny knack for direction (no, I did not use Waze or Google maps) I led us to find and explore this new cycling and running path spanning approximately 8km one way from one end to the other, passing by the gate of Istana Darul Ehsan and it's private jetty as well!!

Although it was a shame that the path did not join up with the other path from Pullman Putrajaya Lakeside Hotel but was separated by a thick underbrush instead where we had to make a u-turn, nevertheless it was a good potential place to run / cycle in future outings.

What a joy to make this delightful discovery for I could now combine both the island route with the west bank route to make it a delicious estimated 32km (10 miles) total distance!

This would be just perfect for my long runs when the mileage starts to creep up as the weeks go by in preparation for KL Marathon.

So here I am, sharing my newfound joy....
If anyone of you are interested to run here too, the map is given in the pictures above.
